Asturias is not just a place you visit for its landscapes and gastronomy; you experience it through its festivals. If you are planning your next getaways, we have prepared a selection of the most spectacular events on the calendar, from spring through the height of summer.
Get your calendar (and your camera) ready, because these are the events you cannot miss:
1. Fiesta del Bollo (Avilés)
When: Easter Monday.
This is the explosion of spring in Avilés. The most impressive part is the "Comida en la Calle" (Street Meal), where thousands of people share a table throughout the historic center. The parade of floats, giants, and "big-heads" is a colorful visual spectacle, perfect for capturing the essence of Asturian community spirit.

2. L’Amuravela (Cudillero)
When: June 29th (San Pedro).
In the picturesque amphitheater of Cudillero, a unique tradition takes place: L'Amuravela. It is a sermon delivered in verse to the Saint, reviewing the year's events with irony and seafaring pride, all facing the sea. It is a moment full of emotion and authenticity that will make you feel like a local.

3. Cider Festival (Nava)
When: Second weekend of July.
Nava becomes the world capital of our signature drink. The International Cider Pouring Competition is the main attraction; watching the skill and elegance of the participants is an art form in itself. It is the perfect place to record video clips and understand why cider is such a vital part of our culture.

4. International Descent of the Sella (Arriondas - Ribadesella)
When: First Saturday of August.
This is "The Party" with a capital P. Also known as Les Piragües, this event combines elite sport with overwhelming energy. The opening parade in Arriondas, the "river train," and the festive atmosphere in Ribadesella convey an authentic "Asturian spirit" that hooks anyone experiencing it for the first time.

5. Asturias Day (Covadonga / Rotating Location)
When: September 8th.
The grand finale of the summer. This is the day of our identity, where the feeling of pride for our land is strongest. Whether in Covadonga or in the town chosen as the host that year, it is the ideal day to enjoy bagpipe music and traditional dances in their full glory.
As you can see, the Asturian calendar is much more than a list of dates; it is a constant invitation to share, toast, and be moved by our traditions. From the bustling street meal in Avilés to the pure adrenaline of the Sella, each festival offers a unique opportunity to connect with the essence of our land.
It doesn’t matter if you come looking for culture, gastronomy, or simply a good dose of energy: in Asturias, there is always a bagpipe playing and a cider waiting to be poured. Which of these events will be your next stop? Pack your bags and come experience it for yourself, because these are the kinds of experiences that cannot be told—they must be felt!
